New mayor and council elected to lead Candle Lake– preliminary results

According to preliminary results, the Resort Village of Candle Lake voted out their incumbent mayor Saturday. None of the incumbent councillors will return to office either.

The results indicate Terry Kostyna will take over as the village’s mayor, while Joe Barczai, Debra Hunter, Jonathan Attig and Shayne Morley will make up the council.

Kostyna beat out incumbent mayor Borden Wasyluk, winning with 1,226 votes compared to Wasyluk’s 261.

Valerie Manton, Ron Cherekewich and Brian Wojciechowski were not re-elected to council. A fourth previous councillor, Patricia Matkowski, was not on the ballot

Council- Joe Barczai, 948, Debra Hunter, 847, Jonathan Attig, 802, Shayne Morley, 727.

The rest of the candidates- Kelly Guard, 579, Valerie Manton, 460, Clarence Buckoski, 315, Ron Cherkewich 242, Steve Mitchell, 226, Doug Allan, 222, Brian Wojciechowski, 200.
