Aug 17, 2020 | 10:54 AM

A 19-year-old woman accused of a violent crime last month outside Prince Albert’s Gateway Mall, was wearing a medical mask and stood with her arms crossed in front of her, when she made her first court appearance on that matter Monday morning at provincial court.

Latisha Dakota Grumbo has been charged with fatally stabbing Kayla Aubichon on July 28. The incident happened just before 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot area and Aubichon was pronounced deceased in hospital.

In addition to the second degree murder charge, Grumbo also faces a number of unrelated charges from an incident on June 30, involving the theft of a vehicle, and reckless driving causing bodily harm.

Judge S. Schiefner briefly discussed the charges in court, and explained the stolen vehicle was involved in an accident and Grumbo, who was allegedly behind the wheel, failed to remain at the scene. Grumbo also faces a charge related to failing to show up at the police station to provide fingerprints.

All of Grumbo’s matters have been adjourned to Tuesday morning. It’s not known if the victim and the accused were known to one another.
