‘We’ll pray that Mother Nature cooperates with us’: Ag Minister talks crop conditions, harvest outlook
SASKATCHEWAN – Agriculture Minister David Marit said crops in Saskatchewan are in pretty good shape.
Harvesting will begin in several weeks and Marit is hoping for good combining weather:
“The heat is welcome for some of the pulse guys, because the pulses were getting a little wet, and the heat sure helps them and they like to stress,” Marit said. “And the northwest we know has had an abundant amount of rain so the warm weather is very receptive for those folks to dry things out and hopefully bring their crops along.”
Marit farms near Fife Lake and said last harvest it didn’t want to stop raining so hopefully that doesn’t repeat.
