Water woes

New agreement for trailer court water appears to be in sight

Two weeks after issuing water discontinuation notices to residents of two local trailer courts, City Manager Jim Toye says he’s optimistic the city will be able to come to an agreement with the courts’ B.C.-based owner to keep the taps on.

“Dialogue that I’ve had so far has been very respectful and I’m hopeful we can come to a resolution,” Toye told paNOW. “Hopefully by the end of next week.”

Driftwood Trailer Park and Eastview Trailer Park are located just outside the southern border of Prince Albert city limits, behind the Super 8 Hotel.

Earlier this month, the city informed residents it had been unable to agree to terms with the parks’ owner whether access to Prince Albert’s water supply and sanitary sewer system could continue.

Since then, Toye explained the two parties have had productive conversation.

“We agree we need to come to a compromise,” he said. “So we don’t come to the situation where the city would make the decision that we would need to shut water off to the trailer court.”

Speaking to paNOW on Tuesday, Toye said he planned to send a proposal to the owner by the end of the week.

“I’m quite optimistic that we will have something signed off fairly quickly,” he said.

Kasel Management, the courts’ owner, did not immediatly respond to request for comment.
