Medium infestation of Bertha armyworm in some Southern Alberta locations

LETHBRIDGE, ALTA. – Alberta Agriculture says infestations of Bertha armyworms are low in most regions across the province, while some locations are reporting medium infestations.

Anything from zero to 300 is considered low, which means infestations are not likely widespread.

Three-hundred to 900 is considered medium and infestations may not be widespread, but some fields may be infested.

Areas that fall under the medium infestation in Southern Alberta, include Vulcan at 392, Newell 421 and and three locations in Willow Creek, where numbers range from 335 to 765.
