The Prince Albert Raiders sign Belarussian import Uladzislau Shyla to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

Shyla was the Raiders’ lone pick in the 2020 CHL Import Draft back in June, and was selected 45th overall.

The 5-foot-9, 147-pound forward from Minsk, Belarus scored 10 goals and 19 points in 55 games for the Under-18 Belarus team in the country’s Extraliga B league.

“We’re excited to have Uladzislau commit to our program, think Uladzislau a really smart player,” Raiders general manager Curtis Hunt said in a team-issued release. “He is a really smart player, a strong skater, plays a responsible 200-ft game. We’re excited to have him come to Prince Albert and start working with our group.”

Shyla is the third current player on the Raiders’ list that has ties to Belarus. Fellow European import Aliaksei Protas is from Vitebsk, while Ilya Usau is originally from Minsk but has duel citizenship with the United States.
