The Prince Albert Raiders announced on Wednesday that former president Doug Winterton died peacefully at 91 years of age, earlier in the week.
Winterton held the president’s position from 1979-80, but his involvement with the Raiders goes a lot deeper than that.
Winterton was involved with the Raiders right from the get-go, as he was a billet parent in the team’s early days and hosted some big-time players like Brad McCrimmon.
He was then the team’s secretary from 1972-79 and later became a charter member on the Raiders’ Booster Club to help raise money for the team.
