Work underway on Shellbrook over pass

Drivers heading north of the city will notice some lane restrictions around the overpass heading to Shellbrook.

Until Thursday contractors will be working to remove graffiti from the overpass. Nykol Miller capital projects manager for the City of Prince Albert said crews will be working to fully remove all paint from the overpass.

“We had originally when the graffiti was placed covered it up with paint, so we’re just wanting to remove the paint and the graffiti,” she said.

In a notice sent out late Tuesday morning, the city said lane restrictions would be in place for three days, from Tuesday until Thursday. The notice asked drivers to drive carefully while reducing speed and observing posted signage.

Miller said this is the first time she can remember them needing to remove graffiti from this specific overpass. She added crews will be applying a solution to the paint before pressure washing it off, which takes some time. While the work is being done both sides of Highway 2 near the overpass will see restrictions put in place.

“The work is taking place on both the east and west abutments,” she said.
