COALDALE, AB. – A Coaldale greenhouse has been chosen to provide all Wendy’s restaurant locations in Canada with greenhouse grown lettuce.
Whole Leaf greenhouse uses technology to capture and reduce it’s water consumption by over 90 per cent compared to lettuce grown in the field.
An on-site process also captures waste heat and C-O-2 at the same time, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and allowing the operation to be completely self-sufficient for electricity and heating.
Wendy’s says it will be the first quick service restaurant in Canada to serve pesticide free greenhouse grown lettuce in all 384 locations.
