Agriculture Roundup for Monday July 13, 2020

Jul 13, 2020 | 10:04 AM

The United States Department of Agriculture released its July World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report on Friday.

The U.S. corn yield was pegged at 178.6 bushels per acre which was in line with the trade’s expectation.

For soybeans, the average yield estimate is 49.8 bushels per acre down slightly from the forecast.

The estimates of U.S. corn and soybean ending stocks remained oppressive and resulted in the markets trading lower.

This year’s Saskatchewan crop diagnostic school is going digital.

The four-day Crop Diagnostic Week has shifted to an online delivery format with in-depth learning opportunities for agronomists, producers, industry and retail to improve their crop scouting skills and further their agronomic knowledge.

Each morning for two hours starting at 9 a.m. specialists will share information.

Monday will start with weed identification, pesticide mixing order and a tank cleanout demonstration.

Tuesday’s focus will be on soil profiles, nutrient deficiencies and phosphorous fertility while Wednesday will feature spray decisions and intercropping.

Insects will be the focus on Thursday along with a pre-harvest appraisal demonstration.

Crop Diagnostic Week will be July 27 to 30, 2020. More information is available here.
