Visiting restricted at Victoria Hospital and long term care homes due to increased cases of COVID-19

Jul 8, 2020 | 3:59 PM

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is alerting residents and visitors of an increase of COVID-19 cases in Prince Albert.

According to a media release, the SHA is urging everyone to follow public health measures to prevent the spread in the community.

Due to the increase in numbers of people who have tested positive in P.A., visiting will now be restricted in long term care homes and at the Victoria Hospital until further notice. The Herb Bassett Home, Mont St Joseph Home and Pineview Terrace will all be restricted at this time.

Family members or support people will only be allowed for compassionate reasons and no other visitors will be allowed in the long-term care homes and the Victoria Hospital until otherwise instructed.

The compassionate reasons include family under end of life care, major surgery, intensive care, critical care, or a care partner aiding in clinical care. Family members and others who meet these requirements will need to undergo a health check before entering these facilities. They will also need to wear a mask and will need to follow proper hand hygiene when and entering or leaving the facilities.

The SHA is urging under no circumstances should someone visit if they have respiratory or flu-like symptoms or have left the country in the past 14 days.

All gatherings in the Victoria Hospital and long-term care homes in Prince Albert have been put on hold effective immediately.
