Sandy Bay school brings graduation ceremony to its students
In these difficult times, the Hector Thiboutot Community School in Sandy Bay thought outside the box to make sure the graduation ceremony for their school was still special.
The school delivered the graduation directly to the students’ homes, by designing a graduation trailer. The trailer was complete with a stage and all the decorations one would normally expect out of a graduation ceremony. Hector Thiboutot school used the travelling stage to congratulate its graduating class of 22 students this year.
Principal Randy Mallory also gave a speech live on the village’s radio station to show his belief in his graduating class despite the tough times of late.
“My message to you is definitely to cling on to hope,” Mallory said in his address. “Far be it for me to deny it, we are living in the midst of a difficult time right now. Some see this as a time of crisis and despair. But I am confident that you, as future leaders of vision, passion and change, will see these as the birth pangs of renewal, of a new future that you can forge with your hands so as to make it a better world for everyone.”
