Sask. campgrounds open to 100 per cent capacity for overnight stays

More sites at Saskatchewan campgrounds are available starting today.

The province bumped up the capacity from 50 per cent to 100 per cent.

Robin Campese with Sask. Parks says people are really interested in camping this year.

“People are booking reservations when and where they can and obviously that will pick up now,” she said. “Customers are inquiring to our parks info line, and our social media channels, wanting to know what’s available, and when more sites are coming online, so it’s great to see that.”

She said sales for annual vehicle permits have been hotter than they’ve ever been.

Most restrictions at campgrounds have been lifted, but there are a few things that will remain closed for now including laundry facilities and group cook houses.

Beaches, playgrounds and shower houses are open.

Campese says they will be opening all of their outdoor pools for public swimming all summer long.

“We have a pool at Cypress, Pike Lake, and a brand new one at Buffalo Pound that we’re just finishing up construction on and we’re getting lifeguards hired and brought up to speed.”

Although the parks are doing extra cleaning and sanitizing, Campese asks that everyone still abide by the health guidelines.
