Graduating high school students hit the big screen

The City of Prince Albert is recognizing this year’s high school graduates.

Monday afternoon the city announced on their Facebook page the pictures of graduates from École Valois and Wesmor Public High School will be on the board for the next two days. Starting Wednesday École St. Mary High School students will be up on display next, and Carlton Comprehensive Public High School students on Thursday.

The idea to use the digital billboard to recognize this year’s graduates was originally brought up at an executive council meeting in May. Displaying graduates pictures on the board is going to be for this year only.

Wesmor principal Gina Sinoski said the majority of their graduates have pictures up on the billboard. She added they appreciate the community support.

“We’re really pleased that the city was able to support and really wanted to celebrate these students and their achievements,” she said.

The principal explained the planning to post the pictures started a number of weeks back when it became clear regular celebrations would not be possible.

Sinoski said they have been working to spread the word on the school’s social media pages to let families know about the pictures being up on the billboard.

“They’re up there and the kids get to see them, the families get to see them,” she said.
