Prince Albert Lacrosse getting back on the field with 8-week camp

Lacrosse is getting back on the fields in Prince Albert.

The Prince Albert Lacrosse Association is accepting registrations for an eight-week drills and skills camp starting on June 24 at the John Diefenbaker Football Field.

It’s open to athletes of both field and box lacrosse, but will be held outside and have more of a ‘field feel.’

With all the uncertainty in these pandemic panicked times, it’s been a big step just to get back on the field.

“It’s fantastic to be able to have the excitement of kids and be able to see them all on the field, it’s going to be great again,” Javan Bexson, president of lacrosse associations in both Saskatchewan and Prince Albert, said. “We’re getting lots of messages already from parents of excited kids, ready to get going with lacrosse. That’s what it’s all about.”

Bexson also added if restrictions are lifted even further, registration can “morph” into competitive games. Even there will be able to have tournaments at some point, that would require an extra registration down the road.

Registration varies from $80 to $120, from ages 8-U to 18-U. Those that were already registered for box lacrosse (indoor lacrosse) can get a refund for the difference. Athletes are to enter from Crescent Heights parking lot and exit on Cook Drive.
