Producers are being encouraged to take part in the provinces clubroot testing program.

A farmer can pick up a soil testing bag, collect soil from their field and submit it for testing at no cost.

Soil samples should be collected in late summer or around swathing time.

All producer information will be kept confidential, and the legal land location will be shared with the rural municipality when there is a positive test result.

The results will be available in early winter.

Parkland College based in Yorkton and the East Central Research Foundation (ECRF) have received $200,000 in funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

ECRF research coordinator Mike Hall said the funds will be used to hire summer student researchers, purchase equipment and support operational programs.

Parkland College operates as a partnership with the ECRF which is part of the provincial Agri-ARM network including Prince Albert, Melfort, Scott, Indian Head, Outlook, Redvers and Swift Current.
