The Rose Garden Hospice is getting closer to becoming a reality.

On Thursday afternoon at the Co-op Liquor Store in Cornerstone, WinesdaYPA, a local wine tasting group which raises money to support community groups, donated nearly $10,000 to help build the facility.

Evert Botha, the spokesperson for the organization, said group members made the decision to support the hospice after numerous attendees at the group’s events suggested it.

“It’s a worthy cause. It’s much needed in our community and, you know, it’s a cause that’s very near and dear to the hearts of many,” he said.

The money for the donation was raised over a number of months by the WinesdaYPA group. Botha said the funds came from donations raised from ticket sales, individual donations, and auctions.

“I think the timing was just right. We’re grateful that we could add close to $10,000 to their collection efforts,” he said.
