India will temporarily reduce lentil tariffs.

Notification of the reduction from 30 per cent to 10 per cent was published by the Indian Ministry of Finance.

Pulse Canada President Greg Cherewyk said they are asking for clarification before they provide an official reaction.

Food inflation is on the rise and the Indian government provided one kilogram of free pulses per family during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Cherewyk said tariff reduction details will be officially announced in the next day or two.

A Glaslyn area woman will receive a $2,500 Canadian Agri-Business Education Foundation scholarship.

Cayle Dorval is one of seven recipients from across the country who are entering or are currently pursuing an agricultural or agri-food related post-secondary education.

Candidates were assessed on a combination of leadership and a written or video response to what they considered the two main opportunities for the Canadian agriculture industry, and which one inspired them the most.

The scholarships are funded through donations from the Canadian agriculture industry.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has released a new report showing there are 36 species at risk in Saskatchewan.

NCC manager of science and conservation planning Mathew Braun said farmers can play an important role in ensuring species at risk do not become extinct.

He said preservation of wetlands and other native habitat is important for a wide range of insects, animals and birds.

Some of the species at risk in Saskatchewan include the burrowing owl, sage grouse, swift fox and whooping crane.
