Water bills, digital billboard and infrastructure funding on the agenda at tonight’s council meeting
Prince Albert city council will debate whether to increase the deposit for new utility accounts from $150 to $250 at Monday nights executive meeting.
As of 2018, the city is owed $1.4 million in unpaid water bills. Along with increasing the deposit, city administration is recommending landlords have access to their tenants’ utility account app and be notified if bills are overdue.
Also on the agenda: a plan to recognize graduates in the the city by using the digital billboard to project their names and photos up in lights; more debate on how to spend $5.1 million in provincial infrastructure funding; and what to do about problem tree roots intruding into old sewer lines.
Monday will also mark the end of council’s at times rocky relationship with a system that saw half the councillors teleconference in to the meeting. If everyone shows up, it will be the first time all eight councillors and the Mayor have been in the same room for a meeting since the first week of March.
