Environment Canada releases special air quality statement for the northeast, Prince Albert

May 20, 2020 | 10:30 AM

Smoke from the English Fire near Fort à la Corne is expected to blanket the region today.

Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement, and Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin, and Prince Albert areas will all be affected.

The Government of Saskatchewan’s Emergency Alert system says residents may experience increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches, or shortness of breath.

People with COPD, asthma, and other lung diseases, along with seniors and children are especially at risk.
