The COVID-19 pandemic has forced entertainment venues to keep their doors closed.

However, some residents living in a senior’s cul-de-sac in the city’s South Hill neighbourhood got the chance to experience an outdoor concert this past Saturday.

The event was organized by Lloyd Glass and his wife Bev. Glass said they were motivated to do something as many people in the neighbourhood have been stuck at home. Glass explained everything was set up to ensure social distancing.

“So, everybody came out and sat on their driveways, with lawn chairs and it was a wonderful day, nice and warm,” he said.

Glass and his wife operate their own ministry, a large part of it involves playing gospel music. The two Glass’ were joined by Art Kun along with another couple in pastor Willy Santiago and his wife Maria.

Glass has been involved with playing gospel music since 1997 and has been involved in a number of events. He said the one this past weekend was a good experience and he got lots of positive feedback from people.

“It felt great to get outside into the sunlight and just fellowship with friends and neighbours,” he said.

Glass said he was happy with all the people who turned out to take in the nearly three hour event and he also noticed a few people driving by in the area stopped to have a listen.
