PA Minor Football spring season officially cancelled

Apr 11, 2020 | 10:00 AM

Prince Albert Minor Football (PAMF) is the latest program to be sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic.

All Spring 2020 programs are now officially cancelled due to continuing preventative measures enacted to combat the virus. The affected programs include Indoor Flag Football for ages 8-10, Little Tykes for ages 4-9, Outdoor Flag Football for 10-year-olds and both the Pee Wee and Bantam Six-a-Side tackle programs for ages 11-14.

Last month, the organization suspended its indoor program and was holding out hope the spring season would resume in May and June. Now, the focus will shift to online registration for PAMF Fall 2020 programs.

In a press release, organizers said “We thank our participant families for their patience, understanding and compliance at this time. We ask our participant families and the wider community to continue to isolate as much as possible, wash your hands frequently and stay safe so that we can flatten the curve, hopefully in time to make our fall season possible.”

Families that were participating in Indoor Flag Football, the only PAMF program that was active when preventative measures for COVID-19 were announced, will receive refund cheques for registration fees in the mail. No other fees for PAMF had been collected.

Online registration for PAMF Fall programs is available at pariverriders.com. Programs offered include Atom Six-A-Side for ages 9-10, Pee Wee nine-player for ages 11 and 12, Bantam 12-player for ages 13 and 14, and the free of charge Pass, Punt & Kick Competition for ages 7-14. All boys and girls are welcome to participate in all PAMF programs. All the necessary equipment is provided except cleats and water bottles.
