More details revealed in local R.M. theft case
Another court date has come and gone for a former Rural Municipality (R.M.) of Buckland Administrator, charged with theft over $5,000.
Tara Kerber was not present for the brief hearing on Thursday, and the case was adjourned to June 11. Kerber’s attendance was waived, and it’s not clear if she will be at the next hearing. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic concerns, court hearing attendance has been limited to lawyers, the judge, media and caseworkers, for the most part.
Kerber was the R.M.’s administrator from 2012 to 2019. The specific circumstances of the theft have not been disclosed in court yet, but according to court records the charge was sworn on Nov. 30, 2019.
The charge reads that on or about April 17, 2019, Kerber is accused of stealing property belonging to the R.M. of a value exceeding $5,000, contrary to section 334 (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The charge has been confirmed by Crown Prosecutor Douglas Howell.
