MLCN restricts access in wake of COVID-19

Mar 21, 2020 | 12:00 PM

Montreal Lake Cree Nation is increasing efforts to keep COVID-19 out of the community.

Effective Monday at 12 a.m, access to the northern reserve will be restricted to resident members only. Chief Frank Roberts informed paNOW security will be placed at all entrances to the reserve, and will be asking people what their business is, and where they have come from.

At this time there are no cases of the virus in the community.

Community leadership has also imposed a number of other precautionary measures. Effective March 23, all non-essential staff are expected to work out of their homes.

All essential staff, which includes Chief and Council, Health Centre staff, and housing maintenance workers are required to be at work. Administration staff as well as staff at Ne-He-Thow store have also been determined essential.
