PAGC helping local families in need

Mar 19, 2020 | 12:00 PM

Care packages which include toilet paper, soap and non – perishables are being rolled out to local families. Over 100 deliveries are expected Thursday alone.

The initiative was organized by Prince Albert Grand Council Urban Services. Manager Geoff Despins told paNOW this is open to anyone in the community of Prince Albert who requires assistance.

“We’re Prince Albert and Prince Albert as a team works together,” he said. “It’s scary times.”

On Wednesday, the office was opened from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m, and there were long lineups seen throughout the three hours. Due to the demand and concerns around social distancing, a decision was made to make the care packages available by delivery only.

“We don’t expect people to answer us. We’ll knock on the door, sit in our vehicles and make sure they get the package we are dropping off,” Despins said.

Anyone who needs a care package or who wants to make a donation is encouraged to call the Urban Services office to make an appointment (306) 765 – 5300.
