Alleged drug trafficker denied bail
A woman who was on the run from police for nearly five months, was back in front of a judge Wednesday asking to be released.
Jordana Napope, 21, is facing multiple drugs and weapons related charges in connection to an incident last May in the city’s west flat neighbourhood. A warrant was executed for Napope’s arrest when she failed to show up for a court date last October. She eventually turned herself in on March 2nd.
At the conclusion of Wednesday’s hearing, Napope was ultimately denied bail and the case was adjourned to March 25. The evidence read at the bail hearing, and the reasons for Judge Mary MacAulay’s decision, are subject to a publication ban.
On May 15, 2019, members of the Prince Albert Police Service in partnership with members from the Prince Albert RCMP detachment searched a home in the 1900 block of 15th St. W. Among the items seized was drug paraphernalia, two .22 calibre rifles, cash, and bear spray.
