60-year-old man attacked in back alley: police

A 60-year-old man is fighting for his life in a Saskatoon hospital following a weekend assault in Prince Albert’s midtown neighbourhood.

According to police, the man was found lying in an alley, suffering from serious life threatening injuries. He was initially transported by ambulance to Prince Albert’s Victoria Hospital but due to the extent of his injuries was later transported to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon via STARS Air Ambulance.

The assault happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of ninth St. E.

Patrol, Criminal Investigations and the Forensic Identification Units investigated and charged a 20-year-old man with robbery and aggravated assault. He has been remanded in custody and will appear in court Tuesday morning.

In the meantime, the Prince Albert Police Service is asking residents to review their video surveillance, specifically in the areas between the 100 Block of ninth and 10th St. E. to the 400 Block of ninth and tenth St. E.

Residents are also being asked to recall any activity between the times of 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers
