Janitorial services ramp up efforts to keep P.A. offices and businesses clean

Cleaning companies around P.A. are being asked to put a little more elbow grease into what is already a challenging job.

Janitorial services are putting in extra hours with a focus on sanitizing high-touch surfaces like light switches in response to COVID-19. But some are worried what will happen to their businesses if offices close to limit the risk of transmission.

Dave Markling of P.A. Janitorial Services told paNOW his clients have requested extra thorough cleanings.

“You’re having to just do a lot more everyday,” he said.

While Markling said he wasn’t concerned about the future if some businesses elect to start having employees work from home, Sally Bohmann of Triple B Janitorial said it had been on her mind.

“We could be substantially held back of what we can go and clean,” she said.

Bohmann said she and her colleagues have been extra vigilant about frequently changing gloves and clothes and may start wearing masks to work.

“Using a lot of extra disinfectants and that, you worry about what it’s even doing to you,” she said. “Because it might not be COVID that gets us, but something from a products so we’re being very careful with all of that.”
