5th Annual Doctor’s Gala postponed

The Victoria Hospital Foundation (VHF) has postponed the 5th Annual Mann Northway Doctor’s Gala scheduled for April 18 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

A media release from the VHF said they had no choice but to postpone it due to the Saskatchewan Health Authority and Chief Medical Health Officer restricting public gatherings over 250 people.

Pediatrician and family physician Dr. Lalita Malhotra, as well as her late husband Dr. Tilak Malhotra, who died in 2017, were going to be honoured and acknowledged at the event.

“The health and safety of our guests is paramount, and given that this gala is meant to celebrate our medical professionals, we feel it is our duty to protect our physicians and guests by strictly following the protocol as outlined by our chief medical officer,” the media release stated. “We wish to do our part to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.”

There is no new date yet for the event, but the VHF said it will be determined based on recommendations by the Saskatchewan Health Authority and Public Health. They will also be reaching out to sponsors, vendors and ticket purchasers in the coming days.
