Muskoday implements precautionary COVID-19 measures, including school closure

Mar 13, 2020 | 2:55 PM

Muskoday First Nation has announced a number of precautionary measures against COVID-19, including the closure of Muskokday First Nation School, effective immediately until Monday March 30.

In a media release, the community said the move was being taken as precautionary measure, as 43 parents and school staff are set to return to Muskoday from an education conference in Edmonton Friday afternoon.

No person in Muskoday is exhibiting symptoms or has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

People returning from the conference will be asked to self monitor.

The Education Authority will make up the lost days and is considering adding school days during the Easter Break or in June. High School busing to Prince Albert will continue as normally scheduled.

Chief and council and staff will be restricting all travel outside the community. Teleconferencing or videoconferencing will be used to minimize community exposure.

Those with questions can call Muskoday Health Centre at 306-764-1282. If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing or have been exposed to the virus call 811.

An information session on the COVID-19 will be held Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Muskoday band hall.

A number of other community events have been cancelled including the Winter Festival, Dry Dance, Elder’s Steak Night Fundraiser, and the March 21 Jeopardy Event.
