The Victoria Hospital is expecting the results of water testing within the next few days, at which point a boil water advisory that has been in place since the weekend could be lifted.

The advisory which sites “turbid/unclear water conditions” was issued on Saturday morning after several staff members reported discoloured water coming from the taps.

In a statement, the SHA said there have been no further incidents of discoloured water since the initial reports and no services have been disrupted due to the precautionary water advisory.

The cause of the discolouration has not yet be determined.

An SHA spokesperson told paNOW the Victoria Hospital has an additional treatment system for drinking water for the cafeteria and food services.

“The food services department is also ensuring that safe drinking water is available for patients,” said Doug Dahl in an email. “This includes water provided through by cafeteria or bottled water.”

Editor’s note: this article has been amended to include information from the SHA on cafeteria and food services drinking water.

Editor’s note: The water advisory for Victoria Hospital was lifted on March 12.
