Provincial Basketball playoffs in limbo pending ultimatum deadline from SHSAA

Prince Albert student athletes may lose the opportunity to compete in provincials.

The Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) issued a statement Tuesday explaining due to failed bargaining talks between the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation and the provincial government, the organization will cancel basketball playoffs should sanctions not be lifted.

The SHSAA has given a deadline of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11.

The SHSAA said approximately 1,700 students and 300 coaches would be impacted by the cancellations.
