Local group thankful for provincial government support
The Government of Saskatchewan is committing $500,000 to help new immigrants learn English.
In a media release sent out Wednesday the provincial government said organizations in Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Regina will receive funding to support English for employment programs. The initiative aims to help newcomers improve their language skills to help them attain and maintain employment.
Minister for Immigration and Career Training Jeremy Harrison said language barriers are a major obstacle for many new immigrants.
“These workers have valuable knowledge and skills to contribute and we want to ensure they have the tools to help them succeed at work and life here in Saskatchewan,” he said.
