Mintos’ season ends, Contacts move on with sweep

Feb 29, 2020 | 4:29 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos season came to a close on Saturday. They fell 4-1 to the Saskatoon Contacts, and were eliminated in the opening round of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs.

Although it ended up as a sweep for the Contacts, it was hard fought series between the clubs. The Contacts’ 4-3 win in Game 2 came in triple overtime. Tye Spencer had a hat trick in that one, including the game winner, and added another two goals and an assist on Saturday. That also took care on business on home ice, winning both of their games at Merlis Belsher Place by 4-1 margins.

Turner McMillen had the lone goal for the Mintos. Joel Favreau made 38 saves in the defeat for the Mintos.
