Following a whirlwind week, Prince Albert’s Kara Thevenot is reflecting on another Scotties Tournament of Hearts appearance.

The lead for Robyn Silvernagle’s Team Saskatchewan said it’s good to be home.

“I’m glad to be home but definitely tired from the week. There was lots of highs and lows, ups and downs. To play at a hometown Scotties was pretty fun, something we’ll remember forever,” Thevenot told paNOW.

After making it to the championship round, the team was unable to advance to the playoffs.

“There was two games that we would have liked to have had back. If we would have won them, we probably would have been in the playoffs. It’s hard to pinpoint one thing that went wrong,” she said.

Following a couple of heartbreaking losses, the fans in Moose Jaw perked the team’s spirit up when they sent the team off with a rousing standing ovation in their last game and victory over Team B.C.

“To hear the crowd roar as it got close, it was a lot of fun,” Thevenot said.

The team brushed a draw to the four foot to claim the victory.

Having family and friends in the crowd as well as support from the province meant a lot to the Birch Hills-born curler.

“It was so heartwarming to see them in the stands. I’d like to thank everyone in the area for their continued support; it’s so great to represent Prince Albert and Birch Hills. All the messages we got. The pictures sent of people watching, it was really heartwarming,” she said.

Following a very busy season, Thevenot said the team is looking forward to catching up on work and visiting with family and friends.

Other than watching her husband play at some local spiels, Thevenot said she likely won’t have much curling on her schedule for the rest of the season.

She noted the team will meet in March to chat about plans for next season.
