Best Band: Constant Reminder
Constant Reminder has continued to be a growing storm of Rock and Roll for over a decade, starting quietly with three young boys growing momentum to bring on a full storm of incredible music to bigger venues, bigger stages all over Canada.
Today, winner’s of the BOB Award for Best of the Best Band of 2020, Constant Reminder never forgets its roots starting in quiet north east Saskatchewan. But they are still playing small venues, often going to schools and youth symposiums between traveling around Canada to play major events and record in studios of the most famous bands in the country.
Not bad for boys who didn’t come from a musical family, who started with no professional training or fancy equipment.
What they had, though, was a dream.
Their father, Luther Constant, had been away from his family for extended periods of time as Chief of James Smith Cree Nation. As he saw his children grow older, he decided to create a world of music for his family – his constant reminders of what is important in life.
They started by learning and playing tunes Luther and his cousin Bryce would listen to on Power 99 FM, along with some other classics. At first it was Seth and Cole. Eventually, Rene came along on the drums though he could barely see over them, and finally, Ethan to fully become Constant Reminder eight years ago.
Their music is breath-taking. These young men look so quiet and so humble. But once they are plugged in and on stage – the music takes audiences by surprise. It’s intensity, aptness and perfection will bring even the most sedate onto the dance floor in no time. At their concerts it is common to see all ages, including kids and seniors standing up or clapping with joy.
Constant Reminder was formed to bring a family closer together, while teaching young men about the benefits of kindness, hard work, diligence and loyalty. Their increasing fame is the result.
Who knows where this band of four quiet, humble brothers will go.
Anyone who has seen them play can’t help but suspect they will go all the way to become on of the most memorable bands in Canada.
