Warm Days Ahead

Warm weather weekend in store

Feb 21, 2020 | 12:30 PM

Prince Albert and area will bask in the mild weather this weekend.

Temperatures should reach 0 C by Friday afternoon. Saturday is also expected to see a high of 0 C accompanied by 2 cm of snow. Temperatures are projected to remain close to zero until a return to normal early next week.

“Normal for this Prince Albert area is a high of –6 C and a low of -19 C,” Environment Canada Meteorologist Sara Hoffman told paNOW.

As people prepare for weekend travel, Hoffman did warn that temperatures could cause some adverse road conditions.

“Yes, hovering around 0 C is definitely where you can get into a freeze-thaw cycle. It won’t be the same kind of freeze-thaw (cycle) as if there were (temperatures) well above 0 C but it’s something to keep in mind that surfaces can become slick,” she noted.

Hoffman said in general it appears Prince Albert is hanging around the 30-year averages when it comes to monthly temperatures for February. She noted that December and January’s averages were very close to 30-year average highs, coming in just slightly above.
