Update: School bus cancellations – Thursday, Feb. 13

Update: Catholic School Division buses with First Student will remained grounded due to the cold weather this afternoon.

The extreme cold temperatures and wind chill has led to school bus cancellations for all of the Prince Albert Catholic School Division Thursday morning.

Buses are also not running in the following areas for the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division:

-Prince Albert

-Red Wing

-East Central

-West Central

-Wild Rose

-Meath Park

-Christopher Lake

-Kinistino

-Osborne

-Spruce Home

-Big River

-Debden

-Canwood

-Shellbrook

Schools will remain open unless specifically communicated. According to Ryan Bruce, transportation manager for the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division, as of 6:30 a.m. Birch Hills and St. Louis were the only two schools that did not have bus cancellations although he said that may change with further weather updates.

Buses for École Valois were also cancelled Thursday morning.

No buses will run for Muskoday First Nation Community School either.

Wahpeton School is closed. Little Red River School is also closed.

There is an extreme cold warning in effect for much of the province. Environment Canada predicts extreme wind chill values of -40 C to -45 C. The extreme wind chill values are expected to moderate later this morning.
