Ring thief pleads guilty, receives jail time
A man who helped steal a number of items from the Prince Albert Raiders last month, including two championship rings, will have some time to reflect on his actions.
Cory Sauve, 42, received a 90-day jail sentence for his role in the Jan. 21 incident at the Raiders’ main office. Sauve pleaded guilty to break and enter with intent to commit an offence, as well as a charge of breaching a court condition from a previous conviction.
According to the Crown prosecutor handling the case, all the stolen items were recovered the following day by police with Sauve’s help. The co-accused in the matter, Payton Halkett, 22, is scheduled to make her next court appearance March 2.
In a previous article by paNOW police said six people were charged, however police have now confirmed only Sauve and Halkett have been charged in connection to the Raiders crime. The other four people were charged in connection to some unrelated property related crimes.
