The Prince Albert Winter Festival’s Classic Rock Show kicked off Friday night.

A healthy crowd came out to the P.A. Exhibition Centre to take in the event, which featured rock music from a number of different decades.

One of the show’s performers, Gary Ostafichuk, said the event shows off local talent.

“It showcases the talent that Prince Albert has to offer that I think a lot of other cities and districts don’t have and I think it’s really exciting to have an event like this,” he said.

Ostafichuk, who also took part in the show last year said the crowds for the event were good in the past. He feels the show has a lot of positive momentum behind it.

“More and more people are finding out about it and talking about [it],” he said.

A second performance of the Classic Rock Show is scheduled for tonight and will be followed by an after-party cabaret.

P.A. Winter Festival President Bev Erickson said when planning the events, organizers try to make sure there is something for everyone.

“We try to provide a platform for the talented people of Prince Albert to be able to come out and show people what they’ve got,” she said.

Besides the rock show, the Youth Extravaganza is scheduled for Sunday evening. On Monday evening, XFM’s Kelly Taylor will perform in a comedy show.

“These are the big events,” Erickson said.
