Prince Albert’s Cody Demerais can recall the morning he woke up on the floor after a failed suicide attempt and realized he needed to make a change.

That was nearly seven years ago and now the 25-year-old has opened his own clothing store and is the founder of Limitless Gear Clothing.

“It means make motions happen in your life, and do something that kind of scares you in a healthy, positive way,” Demerais told paNOW when asked to explain the meaning.

Demerais, who also acknowledges a lengthy struggle with a drug addiction, and was convicted in a drunk driving accident in which he nearly killed his best friend, said the turning point in his life, was a combination of spending time in jail, and seeing the tears in his mother’s eyes.

“I started this out of the trunk of my car. I envisioned where it is now, about three years ago when I started and I was just a little too stubborn to give up,” he said, adding it’s a surreal feeling walking into work each day and seeing the results of his hard work.

Demerais and his friend have remained close, and his friend actually assisted with the renovations at the store.

In addition to his own clothing brand, Limitless Gear Clothing and Apparel also features the work of other entrepreneurs from Saskatchewan who share his thinking.

“Truly I am living my dream every single day because I get to work with like-minded individuals and it’s a whole store front of a collective mindset,” Demerais said.
