Best Desserts & Best Sunday Brunch – Shananigan’s

Feb 3, 2020 | 3:29 PM

Customers who enter Shananigan’s Bistro Coffee and Dessert Bar are immediately greeted by a stunning display of mouth-watering treats.

From their delectable cheesecakes to the mile-high lemon meringue pie, it’s easy to see why the Prince Albert establishment was voted for having the ‘Best Dessert’ and ‘Best Sunday Brunch’ at the 2020 Best of the Best (BOB) awards.

“They love my cheesecakes. They love my carrot cake. It’s one of my best sellers, but they like everything at Shananigan’s,” said owner Jeanette Kindzerski. “It’s awesome. It makes me feel good I got picked for best dessert and the best Sunday brunch.”

Kindzerski is quick not to take credit for all the success, saying its her staff that makes Shananigan’s what it is.

“I’ve got the best staff ever. They do work so well, and they care about my business.”

That care is detailed in the delicious treats, made fresh to fulfill every craving –including a number of cheesecakes, tortes, cookies, squares and cinnamon buns. They also provide gluten free options. Among the customer favorites are the banana cream pie, coconut cream pie and the lemon meringue.

Shananigan’s first opened about 20 years ago and Kindzerski has owned it for almost nine years.

“I’ve done a lot of improvements to the place as far as turning it into more than a coffee and dessert bar. Now, it’s a full restaurant,” she said.

With a huge selection of pastries, fresh fruit and veggies, an omelette bar, and even prime rib, the Sunday brunch is something everyone should experience. Their weekday traditional breakfasts are nothing to shy away from either. Every morning starting at 7:30 a.m. they offer a traditional breakfast for $5.99 which includes two eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, ham or sausage and toast. Don’t worry – you can order the eggs benedict and pancakes on the side.

Shananigan’s is the perfect spot for after work cocktails as well.

“We’re fully licensed so of course we sell wine, beer and hard liquor,” Kindzerski said. “Come the middle of May, we have the patio open.”

Shananigan’s features nightly menu specials, events like ‘Thursday wing night’ and ‘Friday prime rib night’ and they are also available to cater events.

It is open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
