A 20-year-old man is facing five counts of assault with a weapon, and one count of mischief, in connection to an incident Monday afternoon in the area of Carlton Court plaza.

Police were dispatched to the area around 2:30 p.m. for a complaint of several people sprayed with bear spray.

Romand Wardman was arrested at the scene and is scheduled to make his next court appearance Wednesday.

Meanwhile police are also investigating a stabbing in the city’s midtown neighbourhood Saturday night.

A 24-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to hospital with unknown injuries.

Courtney Dillon, 33, was charged with aggravated assault and will make her next court appearance Thursday.

In an unrelated case, a man who allegedly attacked another man with a hammer and an axe is on the run from police.

The incident happened Monday morning in the 700 block of Fourth St. E. Police said the victim and the accused know each other, but they are not releasing the suspect’s name at this time as no actual charges have been laid.
