paNOW BOB Award winners hit the spotlight Thursday night

Forget the Golden Globes and the Oscars …it’s the 2020 paNOW “BOB Awards” Thursday evening at the Art Hauser Centre.

One of the biggest events on the city’s social calendar, it features a glamorous red-carpet and spotlight vibe at the Ches Leach lounge where awards in over 200 categories are presented to P.A. and area’s favourite businesses.

“This year businesses received over 38,000 nominations with over 205,000 votes cast online for the various categories, so it was amazing,” paNOW sales manager Marlene Stene said.

She explained the BOB Awards are an opportunity for P.A. and area to nominate and then determine who their favourites are. And invariably the business community and their clients aren’t shy about enjoying the special night out. The event features food and live entertainment provided by some of the award winners themselves.

paNOW has made a change to the timing of the awards presentations this year. Previously it was hosted in the early fall but now it sets the tone for the year ahead.

“We used to have our year’s winners overlapping from the September to the end of August, but now – by having them in January – we have them running throughout the calendar year,” Stene explained.

That also means all those businesses get to show off their prized 2020 BOB Award accolade for the whole year.

The event gets underway from 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the door.
