Woman in P.A. group accused of robberies given conditional discharge

One of the four people accused in a string of robberies and attempted robberies, including in Prince Albert, was given a conditional discharge — a sentence where no punishment is imposed.

Tonisha Fulton, 24, appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on Tuesday, Jan. 14 where she pleaded guilty to being an occupant in a vehicle in which she knew there was a firearm. There was a stay of proceedings on her charges of armed robbery and assault with weapon. Fulton was previously released on bail in March 2019.

Conditions of Fulton’s discharge include an eight-month probation, where she cannot make contact with the three co-accused – 23-year-old Rikki Steinkey, 21-year-old Brandon Peeteetuce, and 21-year-old Dorion Loessel – or the Jansen and Spalding businesses affected in the string of incidents.

The charges stem from incidents on March 4 when the group allegedly robbed a Prince Albert gas station with a firearm, then travelled to Jansen and Spalding where the group is alleged to have attempted further robberies. All were arrested south of Ivermay.

Judge Lloyd Stang said in court Fulton’s moral culpability was close to non-existent and there was no evidence to suggest she benefited from the incidents.

The three co-accused will appear in Melfort Court of Queen’s Bench for their trials on Monday, March 2.

Loessel and Peeteetuce are charged with intent to commit armed robbery, disguise with intent, and breaching court orders. Peeteetuce was also charged with two counts of armed robbery.

Steinkey faces armed robbery, party to offence of robbery, and breach charges.

Crown prosecutor Lori O’Conner told northeastNOW she can’t comment further on the case until the three have concluded their trials.
