P.A. area man facing additional charges related to illegal hunting
A man awaiting trial for alleged illegal hunting activities was recently issued a ticket under the Saskatchewan Wildlife Act.
Douglas Risling, 59, was not present when the matter was discussed at Prince Albert Provincial Court Tuesday morning.
According to court records, he was issued a ticket last month related to breaching section 48 of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Act. The section stipulates no one should carry a firearm in any all terrain vehicle within specific wildlife management zones during open season for big game.
The ticket was issued Dec. 13, three days prior to the scheduled day of Risling’s trial for a previous charge that dates back to the fall of 2018. He was accused then of breaching section 12 of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Act, which prohibits a non-treaty person from helping someone with treaty status hunt for food. At a court hearing in August, a not guilty plea was entered.
