The City of Prince Albert is starting the new year with a new recreation manager.

But while he may be new to the position, he’s no stranger to Prince Albert’s sport and recreation programs.

Curtis Olsen has been a recreation coordinator with the city since 2010.

On Monday the city of announced in a media release Olsen is being promoted to the position of recreation manager.

In his new role, Olsen will oversee all of the city’s sports fields, arenas, aquatics facilities and fitness and recreation and programming.

He’s excited to dive in.

“The best part is still working with the people I [see] each day and being able to continue to build those relationships,” he said in a media release. “With new rinks and an aquatic centre on the horizon, it is an exciting time for our department and I look forward to being a part of it.”

Olsen will report directly to Director of Community Services Jody Boulet.

“This is a great opportunity for Curtis and reflects the solid work he has done as recreation coordinator for the past 10 years,” Boulet said, adding Olsen’s deep personal involvement with sport in P.A. is one of his strongest assets.

P.A.’s former sport and recreation manager, Derek Blais, left in 2018 to become the director of community services for the city of Moose Jaw.

The city will be looking to fill Olsen’s old job in the coming months.
