19-year-old freezes, dies after crash near Warman
A 19-year-old man died after being found out in the cold after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 11 Thursday near Warman.
RCMP were called shortly after 4 a.m. with multiple reports of a man walking in the middle of the highway between Warman and Corman Park Industrial Road. Officers located the man who was apparently hypothermic and took him to hospital for treatment.
But when RCMP discovered his vehicle in a ditch, they also found a second 19-year-old man nearby who was also appeared to be suffering from hypothermia. Despite efforts from officers, who tried to warm the man up in their vehicle and administer first aid, he was later pronounced dead.
Police weren’t sure how many people may have been inside the vehicle, so they conducted a search of the area using dogs and the Saskatoon Police Air Unit. Nobody else was found.
