Preliminary hearing set in Sturgeon Lake manslaughter case

A court case surrounding a death on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation last summer, is moving forward.
Ryan Kyle Daniels, 41, is facing a charge of manslaughter in the death of Darwin Naytowhow. On July 14, Naytowhow was found unresponsive at a residence on the reserve.
At a hearing Wednesday, a preliminary hearing date was set for April 29 to 30 at Prince Albert Provincial Court. The purpose of the hearing is to weigh the Crown’s evidence, to help determine if is strong enough to warrant a trial.
Daniels is not in custody and was present for the short hearing Wednesday. A plea has not yet been entered in the case.
