SWAT and crisis teams respond to gun complaint in Midtown neighbourhood

Two men are facing charges in connection to a serious incident in Prince Albert’s midtown area Monday night

At approximately 9:15 p.m., police responded to a gun call at a residence in the 300 block of Ninth St. E. Upon arrival officers encountered a suspect with a firearm and contained the residence.

The SWAT and Crisis Negotiator Teams were then called to assist. Prior to their arrival, one suspect exited the home and was taken into custody. An hour later, three women and a second man exited the home and surrendered to police without incident.

Upon further inspection of the home, a sawed-off rifle and an imitation firearm were located by police. No one was injured during the incident.

The two men arrested, Ben Bird and Lloyd Bird, are facing several firearms-related charges and made their latest court appearance Dec. 11.
